Nutritional Therapy

Jane Frank BA(hons), PGCE, DipION, MBANT

Are you eating the right foods to maintain or achieve optimum health?  Do you need help and support with losing weight?  Do you suspect you have food intolerances?  Does your digestion perform as well as it should?  Are you trying to get pregnant or going through the menopause?  Do you have diabetes, arthritis, heart disease or other chronic health complaints?  Nutritional therapy can help with all these situations.  Jane Frank studied nutritional therapy at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition and qualified ini 2003.  Since then she has published two books, about the menopause and diabetes, and her third book is due out in September 2008.  She also writes courses for a nutritional therapy training institution, and is the nutrition expert for Brand New You magazine.

In her practice Jane sees clients with all sorts of conditions, such as sports people wishing to raise their game, women wishing to lose a few pounds, mental health clients and people with serious illnesses.  There is no health condition that good nutrition cannot improve.  We are what we eat, but more importantly we are what we absorb, so improving digestion is usually the basis of nutritional therapy.

What might you expect from a consultation?

  • You will be required to complete and return a questionnaire and diet diary prior to the initial consultation. Click here to download the questionnaire, or phone Jane on 01588 620792 to ask her to send you one by post.
  • The first consultation, which normally lasts up to 1½ hours, will include a detailed overview of your current health problems, medical and family history, plus diet and lifestyle factors.  The work-up include anthropometric tests such as weight, BMI, body fat percentage and hydration level.
  • You will receive a personalised dietary, lifestyle and nutritional supplement programme generated from the information gathered in your consultation and, when appropriate, from recommended laboratory tests (there is a separate charge for nutritional supplements and tests).
  • Nutritional therapy works alongside conventional medicine.  If you are seeing a doctor Jane will, with your consent, consult him/her to ensure that her recommendations complement your current medical therapy.
  • Follow-up consultations are usually advised to assess progress and make adjustments.
  • Jane supports her clients through regular email contact.

What does it cost?

The first consultation costs £55.  Laboratory tests and nutritional supplements are extra, but you will be offered a 20% discount on any supplements Jane recommends.

Follow-up consultations, which last 30-40 minutes, cost £35.
